Celebrate the Wassail tradition with a fun-filled afternoon of activities, music, and community spirit:
Programme:
- 2:00 PM: Lantern making, face painting, and wreath weaving in The Hub.
- 3:00 PM: Assemble outside The Hub.
- 3:15 PM: Procession to The Orchard.
- 3:30 PM: Toast and sing around ‘Vivaldi’ the Wassail tree with members of the Tottenham Community Choir.
- “Here’s to thee young apple tree, Whence thou may’st bud and whence thou may’st blow. And whence thou may’st bear apples enow. Hats full, caps full, bushel, bushel sacks full, And my pockets full too! Hip hip hooray!”
- 3:50 PM: Children hang ‘toast’ (fertility symbol) on apple tree branches.
- 4:00 PM: Make your way back to the Hub for warming refreshments, singing (with Hackney Songworks), storytelling & spoken word poetry by Abe Gibson, followed by live music
- 4:45 PM: Event close.
- Enjoy mulled cider, hot sorrel (non alcoholic) and homemade appley bakes available
- Bring pots to bang and cash for drink and cake donations.
We are collecting cash donations for Haringey Migrant Centre, supporting vulnerable and marginalized local residents.
