Thank you and goodbye to Carola

Hub coordinator Carola Kornfeld is leaving the Hub after working with us for 9 years.

Carola has been a driving force at the Hub and has helped hundreds of people over the years.

She started at the Hub as volunteering coordinator, helping match volunteers to jobs and tasks at the Hub. Since then she has taken on more and varied responsibilities, working tirelessly and passionately to make sure the Hub serves the community and is well-run. She has made sure there is a wide range of classes running at the Hub, provided free and reduced-rate hire for local community groups, worked with OK Foundation to make the Hub available for their Thursday food bank and free hot meal service, coordinated our annual programme of community events, re-developed our website and kept it updated, made sure the building is maintained and clean, and lots lots more besides.

We are very sad to say goodbye to Carola. We will miss her a great deal and we are very grateful for everything she has done for the Hub and the community. We are also very pleased that she will be getting a well-earned rest and is embarking on new adventures, starting with a trip to Europe.

Many of you will know Carola and also be sad she is leaving the Hub. Please treat this post as a leaving card and leave a comment below if you’d like to leave her a message.

With Carola leaving, we have two new members of staff joining us – Nura Nur (People Coordinator) and Nora White (Office Coordinator). Visit the Team page for more details about their different roles and responsibilities.

  1. Apologies for not being able to make your leaving do.

We are all sad to see you go as you have been a rock at the Centre of the Hub for years!

Lots of best wishes and solidarity from me..

  2. The beautiful face of the hub! You have been an efficient, dynamic and dedicated force at the centre of the hub’s development over the first 10 years of its growth and development. The hub in 2024 will now have to start a new chapter, based on the very solid foundations you have created here. I hope you have a great summer lined up (somewhere sunnier than here?!) and lots of new and exciting adventures await. Wishing you all th best x

  4. Hi Carola. It has been such a pleasure knowing you. You have done fabulous work in the Hub and it will not be the same without you. You have been such a positive force and done fabulous work. I always enjoyed my encounters with you. You have always been very helpful and kind and efficient even when overworked or encountering difficulties. You always make time for people and this has been very much appreciated. Thank you. I will miss you. Hope you have a lovely life.

  5. Goodbye Carola, I’m sorry to see you go. It’s been a while since I worked as a volunteer but it was always nice to see you and say hello whenever I was passing the Hub. Good luck for the future and as they on Strictly “Keep dancin'”! And by the looks of that photo keep hula-hooping too.
