During the pandemic the usage of Lordship Rec increased immeasurably. People have found the park to be a life-saver during lock down and covid-19 restrictions, enjoying the diverse nature on offer and the facilities. They have been walking, cycling, running and playing, just trying to stay fit in mind and body through this difficult time.
The Friends of Lordship Rec, the voluntary community organisation that works to protect, promote and help to maintain and improve the park, are celebrating their 20th anniversary this summer and Lordship Hub will be celebrating our 8th Birthday. The Friends of Lordship Rec, Lordship Hub and the Council are coming together to fill the Hub and the park with enjoyable activities on SATURDAY 26th JUNE from 12-5pm. This will incorporate the grand launch of the Council’s “People Need Parks” project running for 10 weeks over the Summer in Haringey.
At the Hub, Bolland & Crust will be providing a delicious BBQ, there will be some stalls including plants, jewellery, cards, diverse toys, natural products and homemade brownies plus workshops including floristry, nature and paper crafts and at 4pm Mr Squash, local children’s entertainer will do a show and at 4.30pm Sheba will be running a fun Caribbean Line Dancing session. There will also be a guided ‘Walk on the Wildside’ around the wilder parts of the Rec meeting at 11am in front of the Hub.
The Council have also planned bike activities with Wheely Tots in the model traffic area from 1-3pm and activities in the Outdoor Gym and at the table tennis tables plus pony rides near the bike track and lots of other sporty activities and performances in the main field and in the Shell Theatre.
